The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats were able to hold off a late 4th quarter rally to come away with a 58-56 win over the Mulberry Grove Aces in an EI matchup. The Bobcats got off to a hot start offensively, with Griffin Vaughn pouring in 9 points to help CHBC end the first quarter with a 15-10 lead. The two teams would play a nearly even second quarter, with CHBC narrowly outscoring Mulberry Grove 16-15, to take a 31-25 halftime lead. The Bobcats and Aces would continue to trade baskets in the third quarter, but a slim 14-13 scoring advantage for CHBC would help them enter the fourth quarter with a 45-38 lead. The Aces would begin to storm back in the fourth quarter, going on an 18-13 run, but the Bobcats would force key turnovers and put the game away with free throws to pull away with the 58-56 win. The win improves CHBC to 10-13 on the season, and 3-0 in EIC play. The Bobcats will be back in action on Friday to take on Altamont in an NTC matchup.
