Altamont girls basketball took an early lead but struggled to stop Neoga in the second and third quarters as they were handed a 43-32 loss in a National Trail Conference matchup played at Lake Land College on Monday night. Altamont took a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 10-8, but was held to just one field goal during a 15-7 run by Neoga in the second quarter with their remaining five points coming from the free throw line as the Altamont was down by six points, 23-17, at halftime. After being outscored 11-7 in the third quarter, Altamont trailed 34-24 to start the fourth quarter, but Neoga’s 9-8 slight scoring advantage in the final eight minutes sealed the loss for Altamont, 43-32. Altamont drops to 10-12 on the season and wraps up NTC regular season play at 5-4. They will be on the road again on Thursday as they have a tough matchup at Teutopolis.
