The Vandalia Vandals saw their 3-game losing streak come to an end on Friday night, coming away with a 59-32 win against the Gillespie Miners. The Vandals had their defense on point in the first quarter, holding the Miners to just 4 points, and Andrew Casey and Qwentyn Stombaugh would combine for 16 points to end the quarter with a 16-4 lead. Vandalia would use a 23-11 second-quarter scoring advantage to take a 39-15 lead into halftime. The Vandals would continue their dominance in the third quarter, going on a 19-11 run to enter the fourth quarter with a 58-26 lead. The Vandals would be held to just one point in the fourth quarter, but their lead would be too much to overcome, as they would come away with the 59-32 win. The win improves Vandalia to 11-12 on the season, and 3-1 in SCC play. The Vandals will begin a 4-game stretch on Monday when they will wrap the Benton Invitational Tournament, taking on Sesser Valier.
