Altamont boys basketball kicked off 2026 with a big win as they beat Hillsboro, 59-36, at home on Friday night. Coming off of a pair of close losses at the Sesser-Valier Holiday Tournament, the Indians began the game on a mission and six players got in on the scoring early, led by Cooper McManaway’s eight points and Blake Berg’s five points, to grab a 24-10 lead by the end of the first quarter. Both Altamont and Hillsboro were held to single digit scoring in the second quarter, but the Indians did have the 9-6 scoring advantage in the period as they edged their lead out to 17 points at halftime, leading 33-16. Altamont went on a 16-12 third quarter run with McManaway putting another six points on the board while Kade Milleville and Jacob Johnson tacked on five points each as again the Indians pushed their lead out, going up 49-28 to start the fourth quarter. Altamont outscored Hillsboro 10-8 over the final eight minutes to finish out the 59-36 win. The Indians are now 7-5 on the season and will head back on the road Monday as they will be at Teutopolis.
