BSE Win Third Straight DHT Girls Title, Dieterich Wins to Take Third and Ramsey Wins to Place Seventh


BSE used a strong second quarter to pull away from Cumberland to win their third straight Dieterich Girls Holiday Tournament title while Dieterich’s first quarter lead was the difference in their Third Place game win over Marshall and Ramsey won their first game of the tournament, beating Arcola in the Seventh Place game. In the Championship game, BSE led 21-15 after the first quarter and then bust the game open in the second quarter with a 24-5 run to go up 45-20 at halftime. An 18-11 third quarter run and a fourth quarter where BSE held the Pirates scoreless with an 8-0 run, closed out a big 71-31 win for the Lady Bombers as they completed the three-peat. In the Third Place game, Dieterich got out to a 20-14 first quarter lead over Marshall and would add two more points to their lead at halftime, going up 35-27. Marshall outscored the Lady Maroons 18-16 in the third quarter to slightly cut the Dieterich lead down but after each team would put up 12 points in the fourth quarter, the Dieterich lead held for the 63-57 win as they took Third Place. In the Seventh Place game, Ramsey got their first win of the tournament as they were able to hold Arcola to four first quarter points to lead 17-4 and continued to hold the lead at halftime, 23-16. The Lady Rams held the Purple Riders to three points in the third quarter and used a 25-13 second half run to close out the 48-29 win for Seventh Place.
