BSE Advances to Championship, Dieterich and Ramsey Fall on Day Two of Dieterich Holiday Tournament

BSE girls picked up a pair of pool play games to earn a trip back to the Championship game while Dieterich and Ramsey-Mulberry Grove both suffered losses to wrap up pool play on Saturday at the Dieterich Girls Holiday Tournament. BSE got off to a very quick start with a 28-2 first quarter run and never looked back as they picked up a 61-26 win over OPH to begin their day. The Lady Bombers then overcame a slow start against Marshall, trailing by one at the end of the first before outscoring the Lions 23-10 in the second quarter to take the lead for good as they pulled away for the 78-47 win. BSE finished pool play 3-0 to earn their spot in the Championship game for the third straight year as they look to complete a three-peat. They will take on Cumberland on Monday at 6:00pm in the title game as the two teams meet for the second time this season.

After going 2-0 on Friday, Dieterich dropped their final game of pool play. The Lady Maroons outscored Cumberland 17-11 in the first quarter and held a slim 25-24 lead at halftime. The Lady Pirates would use a 28-12 third quarter run to take the lead and pull away though as Dieterich was handed a 64-48 loss. Dieterich finishes pool play at 2-1 and will play in the Third Place game on Monday at 4:00pm against Marshall.

Ramsey-Mulberry Grove’s tough tournament continued on Saturday as they suffered a heartbreaking loss to Okaw Valley. The Lady Rams took a 15-11 lead by the end of the first quarter and went up 27-19 at halftime. They would be held to just four points in the third quarter though as Okaw Valley put up 16 points to take the lead. Despite the Lady Rams outscoring Okaw Valley 15-13 in the fourth quarter, it was not enough as they suffered the tough two-point loss, 48-46. Ramsey-Mulberry Grove finishes pool play at 0-3 and will play in the Seventh Place game on Monday at 1:00pm against Arcola.
