SEB and Ramsey Both Fall at St. Elmo Holiday Tournament on Friday Night


St. Elmo-Brownstown and Ramsey both suffered tough losses on opposite sides of the bracket on the second semifinal night of the St. Elmo Holiday Tournament on Friday night. In the tournament’s second championship semifinal game, St. Elmo-Brownstown opened up the scoring against top seeded Cumberland, but the Pirates used an 18-5 run from that points to pull out to a 21-5 lead over the Eagles at the end of the quarter. SEB was outscored 28-15 in the second quarter and fell behind 49-22. While the Eagles were able to slow the Pirates scoring in the second half, SEB was outscored 25-22 and couldn’t close the gap as they took the 74-43 loss. SEB drops to 6-5 on the season and will move into the Third Place game at 6:00pm on Saturday where they will face Hillsboro.

In Friday night’s first game and the second consolation semifinal of the tournament, Ramsey was held to six points on a pair of three-pointers in both the first and quarters by Patoka-Odin, trailing 25-6 heading into the second quarter and falling behind 40-12 at halftime. The Rams got off to a quick start in the third quarter and kept pace with the Warriors as they each put up 15 points in the quarter before the Rams outscored Patoka-Odin, 10-7, in the fourth quarter. The second half effort by the Rams was not enough though as Ramsey suffered the 62-37 loss. Ramsey falls to 1-10 on the season and will drop into the Seventh Place game on Saturday at 3:00pm where they will face Mulberry Grove.
