BSE Returns from Unexpected Break to Topple Neoga in NTC Action

Brownstown-St. Elmo girls basketball shook off any rust early and took an early lead and went the distance with it as they beat Neoga, 69-31, in National Trail Conference action at home on Thursday night. After a shortage of referees caused one game to be postponed last week and another got postponed due to weather, the Lady Bombers had an unexpected 10 days off from competition but quickly got back into the swing of things running out to a 22-5 first quarter lead over Neoga. Another big run through the second quarter had BSE outscoring the Indians 26-4 for a large 48-9 halftime lead. The second half would be more even back and forth basketball as each team put 12 points on the board in the third quarter and Neoga just outscored BSE 10-9 in the fourth quarter. The early damage done by the Lady Bombers in the first half though was more than enough to put the game out of reach as they got the 69-31 win. BSE is now 10-1 on the season and 3-0 in conference play. The Bombers will return to action on Monday as they hit the road to take on Casey-Westfield and then after the Christmas holiday, they will begin play in the Dieterich Girls Holiday Tournament.
