South Central senior pitcher and infielder Lauren Johnson made her collegiate decision official on Friday, finagling her commitment to play softball for Shawnee Community College. When talking about making her college decision, Johnson said it just felt right when she went for her official visit.
Johnson is one of many South Central softball athletes over the last several years and the second Lady Cougar so far this year to sign to continue their softball careers at the next level. And Johnson says that say a lot about the South Central program.
The Shawnee Community College Saints softball team competes in the NJCCA’s Division I where Johnson will face several other Southern and Central Illinois schools including Kaskaskia College and Olney Central College where she will face several of her school and travel ball teammates who are also continuing their softball careers collegiately at the junior college level.
