Mulberry Grove boys basketball got its first win of the season on Friday night, beating Martinsville 52-47 on the road as they opened up Egyptian Illini Conference play. The Aces were able to take a 12-9 lead by the end of the first quarter and held onto the lead 23-19 at halftime. Mulberry Grove was able to add on a few points to their lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Blue Streaks 14-11 to go up 37-30 as they moved into the fourth quarter. Martinsville was able to outscore the Aces 17-15 in the final eight minutes, but Mulberry Grove held on to their lead and closed out the 52-47 win. The Aces are now 1-4 on the season and 1-0 in he EIC, They will have another EIC matchup on the road coming up on Tuesday as they will take on Patoka-Odin.
