Brownstown-St. Elmo girls basketball disposed of another larger school opponent on Tuesday, beating Greenville at home 60-33. The Lady Bombers gave up just a basket and a free throw in the first quarter, but held only a 9-2 lead. That changed in the second quarter as BSE found their flow for the game and outran the Comets 27-5 to open up a 36-8 halftime lead. The second half would be even as both teams put 18 points on the scoreboard in the half as BSE was able to ride out their first half lead and finish off the 60-33 win. The Lady Bombers have now played six games just over a week into the second with only one against a 1A school while getting wins over three 2A schools, one 2A school and one 1A school with their only loss coming to a 3A school. The Bombers stand at 5-1 on the season and return to action on Friday at the Pana Thanksgiving Tournament where they will play Mattoon at 4:00pm in the crossover round to determine what place game they play in on Saturday. For the crossover round, the Bombers drew Mattoon as their matchup after a 3-way tie at 2-1 in the pool between them, Lincoln and Highland led to a tie-breaking factor of free throw percentage to determine the final pool play standings. With BSE being determined to be third in pool play, the highest place game they will be able to make it into now on Saturday would be the fifth place game.
BSE Scoring:
Dayana Haslett – 16 points
Madi Miller – 14 points
Addie Sasse – 11 points
