BSE Opens Season With NTC Win at Cumberland


Brownstown-St. Elmo girls basketball was able to hold off Cumberland and get a 36-33 win in National Trail Conference action on Monday night to kick off their season. Both teams struggled to score in the first quarter as they combined for just eight points with the score tied up at 4-4 heading into the second quarter. The Lady Bombers got a trio of three-pointers from Danika Ramsey in the quarter as they outscored the Lady Pirates, 13-8, and found themselves up 17-12 at halftime. Cumberland closed the Lady Bombers lead in the third quarter, outscoring BSE 9-7, but the Lady Bombers maintained their advantage 24-21 to start the fourth quarter. The two teams played even in the final quarter as the BSE lead held up and they closed out the 36-33 win. With their 1-0 start to the season, they will be back in Brownstown to play their home opener on Thursday, hosting Litchfield with Varsity set to play first at 6:15 and JV to follow.
