Girls Basketball Games Start Around the State Today; Two Area Teams in Action Tonight

After two weeks of practice, the official beginning of the girls basketball season is here as tonight is the first time games be held for IHSA schools for the 2025-2026 season. Two I70 Sports area teams will be in action tonight with the remaining teams in action tomorrow night and Thursday night.

The Brownstown-St. Elmo Lady Bombers begin their season tonight with a National Trail Conference matchup right away as they travel to Cumberland. The two teams have began their seasons against each other for several years but with the Pirates entering the NTC this year, this will be the first time they’ve opened as conference opponents. BSE returns all five starters after they went 26-7 a year ago, winning a Regional Championship and having their season end by a two-point Sectional Semifinal loss.

Ramsey-Mulberry Grove will open up their season at home tonight at Ramsey High School, hosting Sandoval. The Lady Rams lost two starters to graduation and will look to improve on their 8-15 record from last season as they will have several sophomore and juniors hitting the floor with a very healthy amount of varsity minutes under their belts from last year.
