Vandalia’s Tyson Waughtel Takes 1st Place at 126lbs at IHSA 1A Individual Wrestling State Finals

Vandalia wrestling senior Tyson Waughtel beat Cooper Morris of Coal City by Tech Fall (18-1) in 4:35 in the Championship match of the 126lb weight class to take 1^st Place at the IHSA 1A Individual State Finals at the State Farm Center in Champaign this evening. Waughtel is now a four-time state medalist as this year’s 1^st place finish comes after he took 2^nd place at 120lbs in 2024, 1^st place at 113lbs in 2023 and 1^st place at 106lbs in 2022. With his dominating performance in this year’s State Finals, Waughtel remains undefeated on the season and now stands at 54-0 this year.
