Lady Falcons State Run Ends With Quarterfinal Loss

The South Central Middle School Lady Falcons saw their season come to a close on Saturday as they fell to Bloomington Corpus Christi, 27 to 14, in the semifinals of the IESA 8-2A State Tournament at Havana Jr. High. Offense was tough to find for both teams in the first quarter as the Falcons were held scoreless and BCC was able to put up just 2 points as South Central trailed 2-0 to start the second quarter. Both teams got things moving in the second as it would be a close battle with BCC having the slight edge in the period 10-9 as South Central trailed 12-9 at halftime. The momentum would be all BCC’s coming out of the halftime break as the Lady Falcons were held scoreless in the third quarter while BCC used a 13-0 run to take a 25-9 lead over South Central. A late 5-2 fourth quarter run by South Central would close the gap just a bit, but the third quarter was too much for South Central to overcome as they suffered the 27-14 loss. The Lady Falcons end their season with a record of 14-10.

South Central Scoring:

Skylar Webster – 5 points

Annie Ruholl – 5 points

Jillian Jones – 4 points
