Altamont baseball’s current win streak was stopped at four games as the Indians fell 4-2 at Salem on Thursday. Altamont fell behind early as the Wildcats scored a pair of first inning runs and tacked on another run in the second inning as Salem led the Indians 3-0. After a scoreless third inning, Altamont was able to get themselves on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning. After a groundout to start the inning, Ethan Robbins singled. After a popout gave the Indians two outs, Clayton Arnold walked to put two runners on before a single from Kaidyn Miller sored Robbins from second. Zaine Miller followed up with a single of his own to bring in Arnold, but Miller would be thrown out as he was trying to score as well and the inning ended with the Indians still trailing the Wildcats, 3-2. Salem scored one more run in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to 4-2 and that score would hold as the final as the fifth and sixth went by scoreless for both teams. Altamont is now 23-8 on the season and will wrap up regular season play today at home against Shelbyville at 6:15pm.
