Our Pro Wire Athletes of the Week for the week of March 23rd are Altamont Junior Ben Roedl, Altamont Junior Grace Lemke and South Central Sophomore Lauren Johnson.

Altamont Track junior Ben Roedl: Roedl earned three top 5 finishes at the 1A Illinois Top Times Indoor Track Championships. Roedl took the top spot in the Long Jump, finished as the runner-up in the High Jump and turned in a 5th place finish in the Triple Jump. Roedl’s performances in the long jump and triple jump were both personal records, while the triple jump mark is a new school record.

Altamont Softball junior Grace Lemke: Lemke is off to a strong start to the softball season, helping the Lady Indians get to 2-1 with her work on the mound and at the plate. Lemke has tossed three complete games and has recorded 8 or more strikeouts in every game so far including games of 13 and 19 strikeouts as she is averaging just over 13 strikeouts a game while allowing just under 2 walks a game. At the plate, Lemke is batting .333 with 3 RBI and a run scored.

South Central Softball sophomore Lauren Johnson: During South Central’s 4-0 start, the sophomore first baseman and pitcher has been on an offensive hot streak, as she has went 8 of 11 at the plate for a .727 batting average while amassing 10 RBI, 5 runs scored and has drawn 3 walks. Johnson also threw a 2-hit, 6 strikeout, complete game shutout this week against Webber in a 15-0 win.
