Four Area Girls Golfers Close Season at 1A Taylorville Golf Sectional

Four area girls representing Vandalia and Ramsey golf teams wrapped up their seasons at the IHSA 1A Taylorville Sectional on Monday at Lakeshore Golf Course. Juniors Abby Tate and Sophia McNealy and freshman Dakira Brown represented Vandalia while senior Coree Keagy represented Ramsey.

For the Lady Vandals, Tate would shoot a 106, Brown would turn in a 109 and McNealy finished with a 120. While the trio will not advance to the State Tournament, they are the first Lady Vandals golfers in 11 years to advance and compete in a 1A Sectional. They also lead the Vandalia girls team to their highest team finish in the South Central Conference Tournament just over a week ago, with Tate the first Lady Vandal to place as high as second in the tournament.

For Ramsey, Keagy would turn in a score of 107 on Monday as she wrapped up her senior season for the Rams. The sectional appearance was the first for Keagy as a member of the Lady Rams golf team.
