The Altamont Indians tallied 12 hits and three pitchers combined for a 2-hit, 10-0 shutout of Nokomis in their home opener on Wednesday. Altamont got on the board in the bottom of the first when Justin Magelitz would score after Keegan Schultz reached base on a Nokomis error. After holding Nokomis scoreless through three, the Indians would tack on two runs in the bottom of the third when Wyatt Phillips cleared the bases with a line drive to score two runs and put Altamont up 3-0. In the bottom of the fourth inning with two runners aboard, Kaidyn Miller’s single to right field would bring in two more runs to push the Altamont lead to 5-0. That offense would keep coming in the bottom of the fifth inning as two runners were again aboard before Mason Robinson doubled to left field to score two runs and further extend the Altamont lead to 7-0. With Robinson on second and then reaching third on a throwing error on a pickoff attempt, Jared Hammer would walk to put runners at second and third before a groundout by Kienon Eirhart would score Robinson for an 8-0 Altamont lead. Dillan Elam would follow that up with a groundout to shortstop to score Hammer to push the Indians lead to 9-0. Being just one run short of the 10-run rule, the game would move into the sixth inning where Nokomis would again be held scoreless in the top of the sixth inning. In the bottom of the inning, Altamont would have two outs and two runners on as Robinson would single to left field to score Carter Seibert to end the game as the Indians would win 10-0. Altamont starts the season at 1-0 and will go on the road for the first time on Friday when they play at Sullivan.
