The South Central Lady Cougars have made it two in a row, beating North Clay in three sets 23-25, 25-23, 25-19 to win their second consecutive Regional Championship and the 12th in program history, this one coming on their home floor as part of the South Central 1A Regional. For the second year in a row, the Cougars got quarterfinal and semifinal wins over Mulberry Grove and St. Elmo-Brownstown to get to the championship match before facing another National Trail Conference team in the title match and pulling out the Championship win. South Central improves to 29-7 overall on the season.
South Central will advance to the Webber 1A Sectional on Monday to play in the second semifinal game at 7:00pm. They will get another shot at the same team who ended their season at the Sectionals last season, Norris City-Omaha-Enfield (NCOE) who was a 25-9, 25-7 winner over Carrier Mills to advance to the Sectionals. The winner of Monday’s match between South Central and NCOE will move on to the Sectional Championship on Wednesday at 6:00pm to take on the winner of the first semifinal between Effingham St. Anthony and Albion (Edwards County).
