St. Elmo-Brownstown junior Peyton Garrard broke a school record that has stood for 15 years and has a chance to really raise the bar with her new record. During SEB volleyball’s Egyptian Illini Conference match against Mulberry Grove on Thursday night, Garrard tied and then surpassed the St. Elmo High School record of 175 career aces previously set by Jordan Belden during the 2007 season. Garrard needed just one ace to tie and two aces to surpass the previous record in the match and ended the night with 3 aces to set the new record at 177. With one regular season match, the National Trail Conference Tournament, the Egyptian Illini Conference Tournament and the IHSA postseason remaining for this season as well as her entire senior season of volleyball, Garrard will have many chances going forward to continue to add on to her total for the new record.
