(Chicago, IL) — Contract talks between the Cubs and shortstop Javy Baez are on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. Representatives for both sides had been having conversations about a possible extension. Baez launched 29 homers, collected 85 RBIs and posted an .847 OPS last season, a year that was shorten to 138 games due to injuries. The two-time All-Star was the runner-up for the NL Most Valuable Player Award in 2018.
