The Brownstown-St. Elmo Lady Bombers fell to Altamont 53-46 in the championship game of the National Trail Conference Tournament on Saturday night.
BSE got on the board first and got out to a 4-0 lead before Altamont could score their first basket of the game. BSE would push their lead to 15-10 by the end of the 1st quarter with 9 of their points coming from Claire Wilhour and the other six from two three-pointers, one each from Audrey Wilhour and Olivia Campbell.
Altamont made a 7-2 run in the first three minutes of the 2nd quarter to tie the game up at 17-17 and after BSE would pull ahead again, Altamont tied the game at 22-22 with 2:05 left to in the half. The Bombers then closed out the half with a 5-0 run to take a 27-22 lead at halftime.
The third quarter was a back-and-forth battle as Altamont outscored BSE 12-9 to cut the Bombers lead to 36-34 to start the 4th quarter. Twenty seconds into the 4th, Altamont tied the game at 36-36 and would take the lead 39-36 with 6:29 to go in the game. The Bombers were then outscored 14-10 in the final 5 minutes of the game as they fall to Altamont 53-46 and take 2nd place in the tournament.
