Vandalia Jr. High Qualifies Four for IESA 3A State Track Meet

Four Vandalia Jr. High track and field athletes are heading to the IESA 3A State Track meet next weekend after turning in qualifying performances at the Newton 3A Sectional on Saturday. On the girls side of the meet, eighth grader Sydnee Nestrick is a two-event Sectional Champion taking the title in the 100m Dash with a time of 13.28 seconds and the 200m Dash with a time of 27.17 seconds. Teammate seventh grader Grace Kruenegel took second place in the Long Jump with a state qualifying jump of 4.52 meters or 14’ 10”. On the boys side, seventh grader Luke Doehring took second place in the 400m Dash and turned in a state qualifying time of 58.35 seconds and eighth grader Keaton White took second place in the Long Jump with a state qualifying jump of 5.89 meters or 19’ 4”. Nestrick, Kreunegel, Doehring and White will compete in the State Meet set for next Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23 at the Eastside Centre in East Peoria. The 8^th grade girls 100m Dash Prelims and Finals, the 7^th grade girls Long Jump, the 8^th grade boys Long Jump and the 7^th grade boys 400m Dash will all be held on Friday while the 8^th grade girls 200m Dash will be held on Saturday.
