South Central scored in just two innings on Thursday, but the five-run first inning and seven-run third inning were all the Lad Cougars needed in their 12-0 shutout of North Clay to wrap up National Trail Conference play. South Central put their first run on the board on an RBI single by Emmi Ruholl and two batters later, Kinlee Thompson tripled to bring in to runs and then scored herself on an error before a double by Zoey Feldhake drove in one final run in the inning to put the Lady Cougars up 5-0 to end the first inning. The first three South Central runs in the bottom of the third inning came off of North Clay errors as they extended their lead to 8-0. A single by Annie Ruholl drove in a pair of runs and two more North Clay errors allowed South Central to use their heads-up base running to score another pair of runs for a 12-0 lead. That lead held as South Central closed out the shutout win, 12-0. South Central is 14-12 on the season and will play in the Olney Lady Tiger Classic this Saturday.
