St. Elmo-Brownstown softball wrapped up regular season National Trail Conference play on Wednesday night, suffering a 10-2 loss to Windsor/Stew-Stras at home. The Lady Eagles struggled to stop the Hatchets early as WSS put up two first inning runs, one in the second inning, two more in the third inning and three runs in the fourth inning as SEB trailed 8-0 to start the fifth inning. That would be the first inning SEB was able to hold WSS scoreless, keeping it an 8-run game. The Lady Eagles were able to get their offense moving in the bottom of the fifth as Izzy Orr led the inning off with a bunt single and then Brooklyn Landrus double to left field and that hit allowed Orr to score from first to put SEB on the scoreboard. Alivia Claycomb followed Landrus’ hit RBI double with a single to put runners at the corners and a sacrifice from Cami Haslett drove in Landrus as SEB cut the Hatchets lead down a little further to 8-2. WSS took those two runs back in the top of the sixth inning tacking on two runs to their total pushing the lead back to eight runs, going up 10-2 which held as the final after a scoreless seventh inning by both teams. SEB moves to 8-14 on the season and finishes NTC play at 0-9. The Lady Eagles continue what is a busy last four days of the regular season, hosting Oblong today before competing in the Egyptian Illini Conference Tournament on Saturday.
