The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats used a big 9-run fifth inning to come away with a 13-6 win over the Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine Wildcats on Wednesday. The Tigers scored on a passed ball to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, before an RBI single from Isaac Miller tied the game at 1. That score held until the top of the fourth inning when Miller doubled to score Connor Vaughn, giving CHBC a 2-1 lead. A passed ball allowed Miller to score, making the Bobcats lead 3-1. OHP added a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 3. The CHBC offense exploded in the top of the fifth inning when Zach Bennett 2 RBI double gave the Bobcats a 5-3 lead. Miller followed up with a 2-RBI double of his own, before a trio of RBI singles from Max Kircher, Ben Askins, and Clive Schlanser, and an RBI double from Cayden Ondes capped off the 9-run frame, giving the Bobcats a 12-3 lead. The Tigers got a run back in the bottom of the fifth inning, cutting the lead to 12-4. CHBC got an insurance run in the top of the seventh on an RBI single from Vaughn, which extended the lead to 13-6. OPH added two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Bobats were able to shut the door and secure the 13-6 win. The victory improves CHBC to 7-12 on the season. The Bobcats will be at home today to take on Central A&M.
