The Vandalia Vandals offense was held to only one run, falling to the Staunton Bulldogs 4-1 on Monday in their final South Central Conference Matchup of the season. Staunton scored a pair of runs in the top of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Vandals got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning with back-to-back doubles from Chase Cearlock and Trenton Smith, cutting the deficit to 2-1. The Bulldogs added a run in the fifth and seventh innings, and Vandalia was held to two hits in the remaining two innings, falling to Staunton 4-1. The loss drops the Vandals to 13-14 on the season, and wraps up SCC play with a 3-6 record. Vandalia will be on the road today to take on North Clay.
