Vandalia softball struggled to overcome six errors committed in a 9-3 loss to Carlinville in South Central Conference action on Friday. The Lady Vandals trailed 2-0 before cutting the Cavies lead in half on an RBI triple from Bella Walk scored Ollie Whitehead to make it a 2-1 ballgame. Carlinville was able to extend their lead to 4-1 but Vandalia again cut in half on an RBI single by Mady McCall to close their deficit to two runs, trailing 4-2. Carlinville then scored five unanswered runs across the top of the six and seventh innings as Vandalia trailed 9-2. An RBI single by Elaina Hagy brought one run in as Vandalia cut the Cavies lead to 9-3 and that would be it for the scoring in the game as the Lady Vandals suffered the 9-3 loss. Vandalia is 4-14 on the season and gets right back in action this morning as they go on the road to face Trenton Wesclin.
