The Vandalia Vandals couldn’t overcome 8 errors, falling to the Pana Panthers 12-5 on Wednesday. The Vandals got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when an Andrew Casey sacrifice fly scored Kohnor Depew, giving Vandalia a 1-0 lead. Pana would take the lead in the top of the fourth inning, when a 5-run frame gave them a 5-1 lead, before adding 5 runs in the fifth inning, to extend their lead to 10-1. The Vandals got a run back in the bottom of the fifth inning when Qwentyn Stombaugh scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 10-2. A 2-RBI single from Stombaugh, and Ayden Carroll reaching on an error would make the score 10-5. That would be the closest Vandalia would get, as the Panthers would add a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning, and the Vandals would be held scoreless in the bottom half, falling to Pana 12-5. The loss drops Vandalia to 10-11 on the season. The Vandals will be on the road Thursday to take on BSE.
