The Vandalia boys track team took second place at the inaugural Carlyle Invitational on Saturday. The Vandals finished with 98 points, coming in 21 points behind first place Metro East Lutheran and 7 points ahead of third place Pana with 91. Vandalia brought home five first place event finishes with senior Kohnor Depew grabbing three individual first place finishes in the 100m Dash, 200m Dash and the High Jump. Two relay teams took the top spot with Sam Bowers, Jayden Hubler-Rench, Izaiah Lindsay and Paddy McDowell making up the first place 4×100 relay team and Jayden Hubler-Rench, Izaiah Lindsay, Kohnor Depew and Paddy McDowell making up the first place 4×200 relay team.
On the girls side of the meet, the Lady Vandals had just two athletes compete in the meet and were able to turn in three top 5 finishes. Neveah Sachan took third place in the 100m Hurdles and the Triple Jump while taking fifth place in the Long Jump. The Vandalia boys and girls will be back on the track on Tuesday when they compete in their final home meet of the season hosting Greenville, T-Town, Cumberland, Neoga and Windsor/Stew-Stras.
