South Central softball had trouble getting their offense going as they were held to just two runs on four hits in an 8-2 loss to Edwards County in Albion on Friday. The Lions were able to take 1-0 first inning lead and then put up five runs in the second inning as South Central found themselves trailing 6-0 at the start of the third inning and remained down by six after both teams were held scoreless in the inning. The Lady Cougars were able to break through and get on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning after Amelia Montes drew a leadoff walk and then Maddie Peddicord hit a home run to left field as South Central cut the Edwards County lead down to 6-2. The Lions added a run on in the bottom of the fourth inning though and a final run in the bottom of the sixth inning while holding the Lady Cougars scoreless the final three innings and handing South Central the 8-2 loss. The Lady Cougars drop to 10-8 on the season and will jump back into conference play next week as they host North Clay on Monday and then go on the road to Cumberland Thursday.
