Altamont Uses Big 3rd Inning in Win Over CHBC

The Altamont Indians used a big 5-run third inning to come away with a big 11-1 win over the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats on Thursday. After a scoreless inning and a half of play, CHBC got on the board when Isaac Miller reached on an error, allowing Isaac Wells to score, giving the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. That lead would be short-lived, however, as Altamont would take the lead in the top of the third inning when Reed Stuemke scored on a wild pitch, tying the game at 1. Kade and Carson Milleville would both score on wild pitches, giving the Indians a 3-1 lead. Parker Bell reached on an error to score Zaine Miller, extending the Altamont lead to 4-1, and Cooper McManaway took advantage of the fourth passed ball of the inning, making the Altamont lead 5-1. The Indians tacked on a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning when Carson Milleville reached on an error to score Stuemke, and an RBI double from Brayden Elam pushed the Altamont lead to 7-1. A 2 RBI double from Kade Milleville would give Altamont a 9-1 lead in the top of the fifth inning, before the Indians added a run in the sixth and seventh innings to come away with the 11-1 win. The victory improves Altamont to 12-5 on the season. The Indians will be at home on Friday to take on Richland County. The loss drops CHBC to 4-9 on the season. The Bobcats will be on the road on Monday to take on Ramsey-Mulberry Grove.
