South Central raced out to a 6-0 first inning lead and backed up a strong pitching performance by Maddie Peddicord and a 3-RBI showing by Lauren Johnson to shut out Ramsey 10-0 on Wednesday in Kinmundy. Mia Waggoner got on base with a single for Ramsey in the top of the first inning, but was stranded aboard. South Central then had three of their first four batters reach base on walks with a single by Johnson bringing a pair of runs in for a 2-0 lead. Another run scored on an error and then a Perci Reid line drive to right field pushed the lead to 4-0. The Lady Cougars put two more runs on the scoreboard in the inning with a single by Emily Rose driving in a pair to extend the South Central lead to 6-0. After Ramsey was held to the minimum three batters in the top of the second inning, back-to-back doubles by Amelia Montes and Peddicord to start the bottom half of the inning for South Central edged the lead out to 7-0. Ramsey collected two of their three hits in the game in the top of the third inning as Kaylianna Morrison and Mia Waggoner both reached base but were both stranded in scoring position as a ground out ended the half inning. Starting the inning leading 7-0, the Lady Cougars put together a two out rally in the bottom of the fourth inning, tacking on three more runs with RBI singles from Johnson, Reid and Emmie Ruholl, pushing the lead out to 10-0. A walk put a baserunner on for Ramsey in the top of the fifth, but the Lady Rams were unable to move the runner around the bases as South Central completed the shutout win, 10-0. The Lady Cougars improve to 10-7 on the season and will be on the road on Friday to take on Edward County. Ramsey drops to 3-9 on the season and will be off until Tuesday when they go on the road to face Odin-Patoka-Sandoval.
