The St. Elmo-Brownstown Lady Eagles fought through the last pitch tying the game up in the top of the seventh inning but suffered a tough 4-3 walk-off loss at Christ Our Rock Lutheran on Wednesday. The Silver Stallions were able to take advantage of SEB’s rough first inning in the field when the Lady Eagles committed four errors and Christ Our Rock took a 3-0 lead. SEB was able to right the ship and the next five innings were a scoreless pitcher’s duel as the Lady Eagles continued to trail 3-0 to start the seventh inning. Alivia Claycomb led the inning off with a single and then lifted for pinch runner Heaven Hardesty who was caught stealing second to erase the baserunner and then a strikeout put the Lady Eagles at two outs in the inning. A rally as sparked though as Macy Claycomb, Kadence Speagle and Dayana Haslett hit three consecutive singles to load the bases. M. Claycomb was able to score on a passed ball and the remaining two runners moved up to second and third base. Macey Sapp singled to right field which allowed both Speagle and Haslett to score and tie the game up at 3-3 before a groundout ended the half inning. SEB was able to get two quick outs on Christ Our Rock on a strikeout and a pop out, but the Stallions put a runner on base on a single and then a triple allowed the runner to score from first for the walk-off as SEB suffered the 4-3 loss. Freshman pitcher Kadence Speagle has a big game for SEB going the distance on the mound allowing just three runs on four hits and striking out 11 while also going 4-4 at the plate. The Lady Eagles are now 6-9 on the season and they will be right back in action today as they will be in Beecher City to face CHBC for a National Trail Conference and Egyptian Illini Conference matchup.
