South Central Rides 10-Run Inning to NTC Win Over CHBC


South Central put up 10 runs in the third inning to open the game up while CHBC struggled to overcome seven errors in the game and the Lady Cougars beat the Lady Bobcats 12-2 in National Trail Conference softball action on Tuesday in Kinmundy. South Central opened the games scoring with a run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first inning for an early 1-0 lead. CHBC responded with a run in the top of the second on an RBI double by Carissa Wakefield to tie the game up at 1-1. The Lady Bobcats then scored on an RBI groundout by Harper Lilly to take their only lead of the game at 2-1 in the top of the third inning. South Central responded in a big way in the bottom half of the inning with 10 runs with Amelia Montes, Emmie Ruholl, Zoey Feldhake, Annie Ruholl, Maddie Peddicord and Kinlee Thompson all picking up RBIs in the frame and the other four runs scored off heads up baserunning by the Lady Cougars on CHBC errors as they took an 11-2 lead. After a scoreless fourth inning, South Central was able to score one more run on a CHBC error to make it 12-2 and trigger the run rule. South Central loves to 5-1 in NTC play and to 9-7 overall on the season. CHBC drops to 1-5 in the NTC and to 1-12 overall on the season. CHBC will be back in action on Thursday for another NTC matchup as they host St. Elmo-Brownstown. South Central will be home again today as they host Ramsey.
