The Altamont Indians used a 4-run first inning and a dominant pitching performance from Kade Milleville to come away with a 7-0 win over the Mattoon Greenwave on Friday. After a scoreless top of the first inning, the Indians would get on the board in the bottom half when Milleville tripled, and Cooper McManaway reached on a walk. One batter later, Brayden Elam would single to score Milleville and McManaway to take a 2-0 lead. Elam would later score on a wild pitch to make the lead 3-0, and a Blake Berg single would score Carson Milleville to cap off the scoring, giving the Indians a 4-0 cushion. Altamont would add on to their lead in the bottom of the second when Kade Milleville scored on a wild pitch to make the score 5-0. That score would hold until the bottom of the fourth inning, when the Indians got an RBI groundout from Elam, and an RBI single from Carson Milleville would make the score 7-0, and the Greenwave wouldn’t be able to crack the run column, coming away with the 7-0 win. The win improves the Indians to 6-4 on the season. Altamont will be back at home on Monday to take on Neoga.
