Altamont Track Kicks Off Outdoor Season at Effingham Outdoor Opener


Altamont track and field started their outdoor season off with a strong showing at the Effingham Outdoor Opener on Monday, competing against the host Flaming Hearts, Cumberland, North Clay and Dieterich. On the girls side, the Lady Indians competed in just seven of 16 events and took third by only 15 points behind second place Cumberland. On the boys side of the meet, the Indians competed in 11 of the 17 events and took third place behind Effingham and Cumberland. Altamont will have some extended time off before the Lady Indians return to competition on April 11 at the Pana Invitational and the Indians will return on April 11 as well at the Pleasant Plains Invite.

GIRLS RESULTS

First Place:

Baileigh Starnes – 100m Dash, 13.04 seconds; 200m Dash, 27.49 seconds and 400m Dash, 1:03.44

Second Place:

Quincy Niermann – 200m Dash, 28.42 seconds

Keely Fleeharty – High Jump, 4’ 10”

4×100 Relay (Katie Tedrick, Keely Fleeharty, Quincy Niermann, Baileigh Starnes) – 53.68 seconds

Third Place:

Katie Tedrick – 200m Dash, 28.61 seconds

Kara Bauer – Shot Put, 26’ 8”

Justyce Higgs – 86’ 4.25”

Fourth Place:

Quincy Niermann – 100m Dash, 13.80 seconds

Keely Fleeharty – 200m Dash, 29.20 seconds

Fifth Place:
