Altamont softball was held to just a pair of hits and struggled to overcome six errors in the game as they suffered a 16-1 loss at home to Cumberland in National Trail Conference action on Tuesday. The Pirates scored 16 unanswered runs before the Lady Indians were able to break up the shutout in the bottom of the fourth inning. Cecilia Pearcy doubled with one in the inning but was caught advancing to third base on a fielder’s choice from Ella Nelson. Laila Hankins drew a two out walk to put runners at first and second before Adilynn Schnarre singled to center field to score Nelson for Altamont’s only run of the game. The Lady Indians drop to 1-6 on the season and to 1-1 in the NTC. They will be in action at home again on Thursday when they take on Olney.
