The Vandalia Vandals scored 6 runs over the first three innings to come away with an 8-3 win over Dieterich. The Vandals got on the board in the top of the first inning when Kohnor Depew singled on the first pitch of the game and advanced to second on a stolen base. Andrew Casey would then single to drive in Depew to give Vandalia a 1-0 lead. Dieterich would tie the game in the bottom of the first, but the Vandals would waste no time retaking the lead, when Depew would drive in two on a single to give them a 3-1 lead. One batter later, Casey would single to score Depew and Jack Lewis to make the score 5-1. The Vandals would scratch across another run when Adam Buscher would reach on an error, allowing Kobe Lux to score to make the game 6-1. The Maroons would cut the lead in half with a two-run fourth inning, making the score 6-3. The Vandals would get a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh when Qwentyn Stombaugh reached on an error to score Chase Cearlock, and an Ayden Carroll groundout would score Stombaugh to give the Vandals the 8-3 win. The win improves Vandalia to 5-2 on the season. The Vandals will be on the road on Tuesday to take on Father McGivney.
