CHBC baseball picked up its first win of the spring season and did so with a 12-0 shutout of Cumberland on the road on Thursday. The Bobcats offense got jumpstarted in the top of the second inning when Ben Askins led off with a solo home run to left field. After CHBC get to two outs in the inning and then loaded the bases, Clive Schlanser singled to left field to bring a run in and was followed by Kale Hardimon and Isaac Wells each drawing bases loaded walks to each bring in a run and the Bobcats led 4-0 midway through the second. Schlanser sat down the Pirates on three straight strikeouts in the bottom of the inning and CHBC went back to work in the top of the third as Schlanser drew a bases loaded walk with two outs to bring in a run and Hardimon was hit by a pitch as the Bobcats lead climbed to 6-0. The bottom of the third was another three up, three down inning for Schlanser on the mound and CHBC packed on six runs in the fourth inning on an RBI walk from Max Kircher, an RBI single from Schlanser, a two RBI double from Hardimon and an RBI single from Wells, doubling their lead to 12-0. That was it for the game’s scoring as CHBC held Cumberland scoreless in the bottom of the fourth and fifth and closed out the 12-0 shutout win. The Bobcats are 1-2 on the season and will be back at it again today going on the road again to face Dieterich.
