The Ramsey-Mulberry Grove Rams couldn’t overcome a 5-run third inning, and could not keep up, falling to the Okaw Valley Timberwolves 14-2 in their season opener on Tuesday afternoon. After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first inning, the Rams wasted no time tying the game in the bottom half of the inning when Carson Phillips reached on a two-out single and later stole second. Carson Caylor reached on an error to score Phillips, making the game 2-1, before a single from Braxton Moreland tied the game at 2. After a scoreless second inning, the Timberwolves would erupt with a 5-run third inning to take a 7-2 lead. Okaw Valley would break the game open with a 6-run fourth inning, before adding one in the fifth to take a 14-2 lead. Ramsey-Mulberry Grove would be shut out in the bottom half of the fifth, putting the run rule into effect, falling to Okaw Valley 14-2. The loss drops Ramsey-Mulberry Grove to 0-1 on the season. The Rams will be on the road on Thursday to take on Central A&M.
