Vandalia softball had no answer for Lincolnwood’s late offensive burst as the Lady Vandals fell to the Lancers 11-1 at home on Monday. Lincolnwood scored one run in each of the first three innings before putting three up in the top of the fourth inning to have Vandalia trailing 6-0 as they came up to bat in the bottom of the fourth inning. With runners at the corners, Liah Hoyle grounded out to shortstop which allowed Bella Walk to score from third and the Lady Vandals cut the Lincolnwood lead down to 6-1. After a strikeout ended the fourth inning, the Lancers put up five runs in the top of the fifth inning and Vandalia went three up, three down in the bottom half of the inning and suffered the 11-1 loss. Vandalia is now 0-3 on the season and will be back at it today, going on the road to face Effingham.
