The Vandalia Lady Vandals got behind early and could not keep up, falling to the Newton Lady Eagles 15-0 on Thursday in their home opener. Newton jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first inning, before adding two runs in the second and third innings, four in the fourth, and one in the fifth to come away with the win. The Lady Vandals were held to just one baserunner in the game, a walk from Bella Walk in the bottom of the third. The loss drops the Lady Vandals to 0-2 on the season. Vandalia will be back home on Monday to take on Lincolnwood.
