Two I70Sports area athletes competing for Greenville University Track and Field came home from this past weekend’s Saint Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Indoor Championships with honors. Altamont grad and GU freshman sprinter Abby Weishaar was named the SLIAC Indoor Track Freshman of the Year. Weishaar finished as the Women’s 400m Dash Champion, was the lead runner for the SLIAC Champion Women’s 4×400 relay team, finished fourth in the 60m Dash and sixth in the 200m Dash. She is the second Panther to win the award. Also with her 400m Dash Championship, Weishaar earn SLIAC First Team All-Conference honors. On the boys side of things, VCHS grad and GU junior vaulter Christian Duplayee grabbed a top three finish at the Indoor Championships. Duplayee finished third in the Pole Vault with a best vault of 3.75m. That finish earned him Third Team All-Conference honors. It was the best SLIAC Indoor Championship finish for Duplayee after a fourth place finish his freshman year. The Panthers are set to be in action today as they compete at Carthage College.
