Altamont's Fourth Quarter Run Leads to Regional Championship Win Over Webber


It took two years, but Altamont boys basketball got some revenge on Webber as the Indians used a strong fourth quarter run to beat the Trojans 68-58 and claim the Championship of their own Altamont 1A Regional on Friday night. Just over two years to the day since Webber beat Altamont 57-45 in the title game of the 2024 Altamont 1A Regional Championship, the Indians and Trojans started the game off in a tight battle as each team poured in 19 points in the first quarter with Cooper McManaway hitting for seven points and Zaine Miller getting a pair of three-pointers for six points. The second quarter would prove to be five against one as the Indians spread 15 points across five scorers in the quarter including another six from Miller on a pair of three-pointers but Webber’s 3,000 point scorer Nathaniel Marlow scored 20 points to put the Trojans up 39-34 over the Indians at halftime. Altamont senior Kade Milleville jump started the Indians in the second half with nine points to lead them on a 14-7 third quarter run and they took the lead 48-46 to start the fourth quarter. Milleville continued to lead the way with 11 points in the fourth quarter and Miller tacked on another five points and Altamont outscored Webber 20-12 to pull away for the ten-point win, 68-58 and claim their second Regional title in four years. The Indians move to 23-10 on the season and advance to the Macon Meridian Sectional where they will take on Tuscola in the first semifinal game on Tuesday at 7:00pm.
