Altamont Takes Early Lead, Rolls to Regional Semifinal Win Over Edwards County


Altamont boys basketball came out strong and grabbed an early eight point lead and rode it to a 51-35 win over Edwards County in the semifinals of their own Altamont 1A Regional on Wednesday night. The Indians stormed out to a 19-11 lead behind a 10-point effort by Kade Milleville in the first quarter. Altamont stayed steady with their offense in the second, going on a 14-10 run as five points from Milleville and Zaine Miller and a three-pointer from Parker Bell paced the run for a 33-21 lead at halftime. With the defense dialed up in the third quarter, the Indians held the Lions to only three points in the quarter while Cooper McManaway put up all 10 points for Altamont to push their lead out to 43-24. Edwards County put together a last ditch effort in the fourth quarter and outscored Altamont 11-8 but the early damage by the Indians sealed the 51-35 win. Altamont moves to 22-10 on the season and advances to the Regional Championship where they will face Webber on Friday night at 7:00pm.
