Ten Vandals Wrestlers are Into Championship Semifinals of the Boys Individual Sectional


Ten Vandalia wrestlers picked up Quarterfinal wins on Friday night as they are into the Championship Semifinals today at the Vandalia Individual Sectional while two others will have to work their way through Wrestlebacks. Kaiden Daugherty at 106, Riley Hinton at 120, Preston Waughtel at 126, Max Philpot at 132, Eli Mabry at 144, Dade Kleinik at 150, Dillon Hinton at 157, Zayne Zinkgraf at 165, Noah Langston at 175 and Ross Miller at 190 will all wrestle in the Championship Semifinals. Cooper Galloway at 113, Brody Matthews at 138 and Dominic Swyers at 285 will wrestle in the First Round of Wrestlebacks beginning at 9:00am this morning with the Championship Semifinals to follow and then the Second Round Wrestlebacks. After the gym is cleared from the Morning Session, the afternoon session will begin at 12:30pm with the Semifinal Wrestlebacks followed by the Parade of Champions at 2:30pm and the Championship and Third Place matches at 2:45pm.

Individual Vandalia Wrestlers Breakdown:

106lbs – Kaiden Daugherty: Daugherty got a win by Fall in 2:56 over Dylan Combs of Carmi in Championship Round 1 before beating Dalton Baker of Lawrenceville by Fall in 2:56 in the Championship Quarterfinals. He will face Eli Schaefer of Freeburg in the Championship Semifinals.

113lbs – Cooper Galloway: Galloway lost to Trey Skelton of Roxana by Fall in 27 seconds in Championship Round 1. Galloway falls into Wrestlebacks and will face Kohl Fuller of Hillsboro.

120lbs – Riley Hinton: After a First Round BYE, Hinton beat Brayden Hendrix of Roxana by Fall in 5:30 in the Championship Quarterfinals and will face Paxton Pyatt of Murphysboro in the Championship Semifinals.

126lbs – Preston Waughtel: Waughtel had a First Round BYE and then beat Hudson Anderson of West Frankfort by Tech Fall in 1:37 in the Championship Quarterfinals. He will now face Pedro Alberto Rangel of Fithian Oakwood in the Championship Semifinals.

132lbs – Max Philpot: Philpot had a First Round BYE and then beat Devon Jensen of Freeburg by Tech Fall in 1:16 in the Championship Quarterfinals and now faces Mason Schwart of Fithian Oakwood in the Championship Semifinals.

138lbs – Brody Matthews: Matthews has a First Round BYE and then suffered a loss by Decision, 11-9, to Broady Kelly of Robinson in the Championship Quarterfinals. He now drops into Wrestlebacks where he will face Thayden Bailey of Litchfield.

144lbs – Eli Mabry: After a First Round BYE, Mabry beat Lucas Parker of West Frankfort by Fall in 1:17 in the Championship Quarterfinals and moves into the Championship Semifinals to face Brandon Green Jr. of Roxana.

150lbs – Dade Kleinik: Kleinik had a First Round BYE and then picked up a win by Fall over Connor Schrader of Robinson in the Championship Quarterfinals to advance on and face Logan Riggs of Roxana in the Championship Semifinals.

157lbs – Dillon Hinton: After a First Round BYE, Hinton beat Tyler Nolan of Red Bud in the Championship Quarterfinals and moves into the Championship Semifinals to face Derek Wilkey of Benton.

165lbs – Zayne Zinkgraf: Zinkgraf got a Tech Fall win in 4:30 over Daniel Nichols of Cumberland in Championship Round 1 and then picked up a win by Major Decision over Trevor Fath of Pinckneyville in the Championship Quarterfinals, earning himself a spot in the Championship Semifinals to face Pierre Walton of Belleville Althoff.

175lbs – Noah Langston: Langston had a First Round BYE and then beat Lenox Parker of Robinson by Fall in 2:43 in the Championship Quarterfinals. Langston moves to the Championship Semifinals where he will take on Jonathan Ramaker of Pinckneyville.

190lbs – Ross Miller: Miller had a First Round BYE and then picked up a 1-0 win by Decision in a very tight battle with Ethan Miller of Westville in the Championship Quarterfinals. He advances to the Championship Semifinals to take on Daniel Jackson on Red Bud.

285lbs – Dominic Swyers: Swyers had a First Round BYE and then suffered a loss by Fall in 2:54 to Joseph Hercules of Johnson City in the Championship Quarterfinals. Swyers drops into the Wrestlebacks where he will take on Logan Curl of Paris.
