Lady Vandals Swyers Takes First, Gray Takes Second as Both Qualify for Individual Wrestling Sectional

A pair of Lady Vandals wrestlers are moving on to the Individual Sectionals following first and second place finishes at the Jacksonville ISD Regional on Saturday. Senior Brynn Swyers captured the Championship of the 170lb weight class picking up a semifinal win by Fall in 4:24 and then getting a win by Fall in 1:48 in the title bout for the Championship. At 155lbs, Violet Gray took second place getting a win by Major Decision, 14-5 in the semifinals before suffering a close 8-6 loss by Decision in the title bout to finish second. Also competing was freshman Briley Sefton at 115lbs and she got a win by Default in the quarterfinals but suffered a loss by Fall in 1:24 in the semifinals to drop into Wrestlebacks where she took a loss by Fall in 2:28 in the Consolation Semifinal. Swyers and Gray will now compete in the North Mac Girls Individual Sectional next Friday and Saturday.
