Mulberry Grove boys basketball stayed with Windsor/Stew-Stras in the first quarter but had trouble slowing down the Hatchets mid-game as the Aces suffered a 62-35 loss at home on Friday night. Mulberry Grove used a trip of three-pointers, two from Heston Henrichsmeyer and one from Conner Hartmann to stay with the Hatchets who also got things going early with a pair of threes. The Aces put WSS at the free throw line six times in the quarter though and the Hatchets went 8 of 10 to help get out to an 18-13 lead by the end of the quarter. Mulberry Grove was doubled up in the second, being outscored 17-9 in the quarter which put them down 35-22 at halftime. The Aces were held to just five points in the third quarter as their deficit opened up to 56-27 to start the fourth quarter. Mulberry Grove was able to outscore the Hatchets 8-6 in the fourth quarter but they suffered the 62-35 loss. The Aces drop to 4-16 on the season and they go on the road for a pair of game this coming week, traveling to O’Fallon to take on First Baptist Academy on Monday and then Farina on Friday to take on South Central.
